The Lord's Supper / breaking of bread / communion - call it what you will. My question is ... how often do you think it should be taken in church?
But I believe that this is the only reference to weekly, therefore if we were to apply the full verse then our Sunday Services should last until midnightActs 20:7 Now on the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul, ready to depart the next day, spoke to them and continued his message until midnight.
Some people also use Acts 2, indicating that it is everytime we meet together, therefore Sundays, but does this mean that we should also have it at every gathering of believers, Men's Studys, Prayer Breakfasts, Home Fellowships? But does this mean if I have a few Christian friends over to my house we should have communion? (we could have, there is nothing in these verses to prevent it!)Acts 2:46 So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart
I personally believe that this is the Biblical basis for the frequency as in this chapter Paul was giving instruction rather than in the last two where it was more narrative.1 Cor11:26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death till He comes.
