Introduce Yourself...

.
Hello;

I'm originallly from San Diego, did three years active duty in the US Army from
1961-1964, and retired from work as an industrial welder in 2006.

I missed Viet Nam, but was right in the middle of the Cuban missile crisis. My unit
was fully armed and equipped ready to be in the air within one hour had JFK given
us the green light. We normally received our parachutes on the tarmac but that
time we already had them with us in the barracks.

I and my wife have been together since 1980. We have one son and two
grandsons; and currently reside in Oregon not far from INTEL's massive Ronler
Acres complex in Hillsboro, and roughly the same distance form NIKE's campus in
Beaverton.

* I was diagnosed with esophageal cancer in Nov 2022. It's potentially lethal but
not instantly fatal like automobile accidents and strokes. Radiation and chemo
therapy have slowed it down quite a bit and prevented the stuff from killing me
right away, thus allowing me time to pack my bags, so to speak.

You know what I really, really hate about death? The afterlife is an alien world with
which I am totally unfamiliar; and when I leave here, I will be leaving behind
everything near and dear to me, e.g. photos, mementos, souvenirs, collections,
sights and sounds, mountains, creeks, rivers and forests, clothing and equipment,
tools, landmarks, entertainment, hobbies, my spouse, BFF, and my old Ford Ranger
pick-up truck, etc, etc.

The culture shock tsunami of leaving all that I know & love and going to a foreign
land where I know & love nothing at all, is not my idea of a good time. Personally; I
dread the thought of having to start all over again from scratch.

But at least I will be starting over. The poor wretches down below have nothing pleasant
to expect.

Chaya - I am not a jazz fan (although I do listen to it occasionally).

I went to the shop to buy a sax and instead bought a guitar!! Just something that I could learn to make a joyful noise to the Lord!! (Athough some may say my guitar playing is anything but a joyful noise :( )

My music taste is more in the realm of Third Day, Caedom's Call, Mercy Me and a lot of various style of worship music.

What music do others on the forum enjoy?

Jazzif the intonation of tour guitar is right trust me it can be absolutely joyful and it's a noise you'll grow to love. Try using to make your guitar more suitable for worship songs.
