Korah in Hebrew means ice. And is first cousin of Moses. Korah instigated a rebellion against Moses and Aaron, trying to undermine God's Anointed. God sent leprosy on Moses sister Miriam, complaining about Moses abilities.
God did heal her when Moses spoke out. Korah rebellion started with gossip in the South camp.
Nirgan in Hebrew means - slander and gossip.
Numbers 16:1. Now korah the son of lzhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi and Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab and On, the son of Peleth, sons of Reuben, took men.
Word korah means ice in Hebrew. Korak father was the brother of moses, Lzhar. Korah started gossip that led to rebellion against God and Moses.
16:2. And they rose up before Moses with certain of the children of Israel, two hundred and fifty princess of the assembly famous in the congregation, men of renown.
Two hundred and fifty men leaders of their tribes. Foolishly they listen to gossip spreading like wild fire. Mixture of lies and truth.
When gossip starts in church by one individual, few individuals who bend ear, and spreads to more itching ears. Some people started believing the gossip.. And go against God's appointed in charge of the congregation. Intelligent people won't listen to nonsense and only stick with the facts.
16:3. And they gathered themselves together against Moses and against Aaron and said unto them, Ye take too much upon you, seeing all the congregation are holy, everyone of them, and the Lord is among them where fore then lift ye up yourself above the congregation of the Lord?
Two hundred and fifty leaders plotted against Moses and Aaron and planned attack. Twelve spies return from land of Palestine and ten gave false report, only two told the truth. Israel believed the lies of the ten spies.
Because of there lack of faith, God with drew Himself from them. All people over 20 would die in the wilderness and not see the promise land. Disobedience and lack of faith.
16:4. And when Moses heard it, he fell upon his face.
Moses didn't react to the trouble makers. He we to God. This rebellion was about defiance to God. They are blaming Moses for their lack of faith.
16:5. And he spake unto korah and unto all his company, saying, Even tomorrow the Lord will shew who are His And who is holy and will cause him to come near unto Him even him whom He hath chosen will He cause to come near unto Him.
Moses did nothing that day and korah and his rebellion leaders come back tomorrow.
Leviticus 10:3. Then Moses said unto Aaron, This is it that the Lord spake, saying, I will be sancified in them that come nigh Me, and before all the people I will be glorified.
When Yahweh appoints and anoints someone to service. He will be the one that chooses who it will be.
Now Moses and korah and leaders took censers and put coals and incense in them and brought it to tabnacle tomorrow.
Numbers 16:11. For which cause both thou and all thy company are gathered against the Lord, and what is Aaron, that ye murmur against him?
16:12. And Moses sent to call Dathan and Abiram, sons of Elab, which say, We will not come up.
Next day moses asking Korah what the problem is. Second day, Dathan and Abiram didn't show up for meeting at the Tabnacle.
16:13. Is it small thing that thou brought us up out of land that flow with milk and honey to kill us in the wilderness, except thou make thyself a prince over us?
People blame Moses and Aaron for there lack of faith. Look at today, loss of jobs, rampant crime and godless acts dome in schools and homes. They take God out there lives and remove faith in His word and blame everyone else.
God will protect if we go into His sanctuary , but some Christian people are stubborn and its my way.
16:15. And Moses was very wroth and said unto the Lord, Respect not thou their offering, I have not taken one ass from them, neither have I hurt one of them.
Watch what you say, God has way of letting you select that punishment that comes on your own head.h
The rebels are bringing their own fire hot coals from home into Tabnacle of God. There mixing heathen ism and bread of God, its against ways of God.
16:21. Separate yourselves from among these congregation, that I may consume them in a moment.
The rebels used strange fire in the Tabnacle of God. Moses and Aaron fell to there faces and plead with God to spare congregation.
There were some ignorant people who, innocent who that tagged along, because they follow the crowd. Yahweh means business. He won't tolerate idolatry and strange fire.
16: 26. And he spake unto the congregation, saying, Depart I pray you from the tents of these wicked men and touch nothing of theirs lest ye be consumed in all thier sins.
People are warned by God through mouth of Moses to stay away from the wicked men.
Dathan and korah want priesthood to be a democracy and it doesn't work that way.
16:2. And the earth opened her mouth and swallowed them up, and thier houses and all the men that appertainted unto Korah and all their goods.
Congregation got the message fast. Korah, his family and goods and all trouble makers disappeared in the ground.
Now congregation doesn't have to listen to gossip or slander. These trouble makers tried to turn congregation against Moses and Aaron. When gossip or trouble makers come along, have nothing to do with them. God expects obedience and discipline.
